Good Journey to shuttle between California, Australia

Posted: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 6:27 PM

Rich and Gay Sulpizio’s Magali Farm in Santa Ynez, California, has entered a partnership with Lindsay Park Stud in Angaston, Australia, that will enable Canadian Grade 1 winner Good Journey to shuttle between California and Australia.

The Nureyev horse out of multiple Group 1 winner Chimes of Freedom, by Private Account, will stand at Lindsay Park for $17,024 ($18,000 Australian). Good Journey is the sire of Australian Group 1 winner Grand Journey and Australian Group 2 winner Sound Journey.

“Our partnership will see Good Journey shuttle between our farms for as long as he is fit and fertile, and we look forward to providing him with every opportunity to build upon this most impressive start to his stud career,” Rich Sulpizio said.

Good Journey, a half brother to 2003 champion sprinter and sire Aldebaran, was purchased in 2006 by Magali Farms and partners, GM Thoroughbreds and Leatherman Racing. In two crops of racing age, he has sired ten winners from 18 starters that have earned $794,525 through Monday.

“In developing a roster of commercial stallions we could not have hoped for a better credentialed addition than Good Journey and to be doing so in partnership with Magali Farms is an added bonus,” said Sam Hayes, Lindsay Park’s director and principle.

Good Journey won the 2002 Atto Mile Stakes (Can-G1). Trained by Wally Dollase for a partnership that included Flaxman Holdings, Good Journey concluded his racing career in 2003 with seven wins in 16 starts and $1,733,058 in earnings.

Good Journey entered stud in 2003. He currently is standing the Northern Hemisphere season for $7,500 at Magali Farms.
