Aspen Darlin first winner for Indian Haven

Posted: Tuesday, April 15, 2008 3:45 PM

Aspen Darlin stalked the pace in her career debut and edged away to a half-length victory on Tuesday at Warwick to become the first career winner for Irish classic winner Indian Haven.

Trained by Alan Bailey for owner Indian Haven Syndicate, Aspen Darlin completed five furlongs on turf rated as soft in 1:05. Out of the unraced Key of Luck mare Manuka Magic, Aspen Haven is from the female family of multiple Group 1 winner and sire Grand Lodge.

Indian Haven, an eight-year-old by Indian Ridge out of multiple Group 2 winner Madame Dubois, by Legend of France, stands for $9,481 (6,000 euros) at the Irish National Stud. A half brother to Group 1 winner and sire Count Dubois, Indian Haven has 51 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Indian Haven won three of 12 career starts and earned $309,154. In 2003, he won the Entenmanns Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) at the Curragh and the Victor Chandler European Free Handicap at Newmarket.
