Deputy Glitters retired to Journeyman Stud
Multiple graded stakes winner Deputy Glitters has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2009 at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Reddick, Florida.
No stud fee was announced for the Deputy Commander horse out of multiple stakes-placed winner Glitters, by Glitterman.
Deputy Glitters concluded his four-year racing career with $426,695 in purse earnings and three wins in 17 starts. The five-year-old horse joined the Triple Crown trail in 2006 after earning his first stakes win in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3).
Deputy Glitters was unplaced in the 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1). A Joseph Lacombe Stables homebred, Deputy Glitters subsequently won the ’06 Ohio Derby (G2) at Thistledown.
“Deputy Glitters was an excellent three-year-old who possessed the ability to win top races running around two turns,” Brent Fernung said. “He’ll add stamina and class to the pedigrees of the mares he breeds. He is the product of a successful racing stable and we appreciate Joe Lacombe giving us this opportunity.”
