Sought After relocating to Rancho San Miguel
California-based sire Sought After is relocating for the 2009 breeding season to Tom and Nancy Clark’s Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, California.
No stud fee was announced for the Seeking the Gold horse out of multiple group stakes winner Smolensk, by Danzig. Sought After stood the previous four seasons for $2,500 at Daehling Ranch in Elk Grove, California.
Eight-year-old Sought After is the sire of eight winners from 14 starters that have compiled $301,413 in purse earnings through Tuesday.
Sought After’s top progeny include stakes-placed winner Control Seeker and stakes-placed Bean Who. Sought After also is the sire of Cross Fire, who set a track record on Golden Gate Fields’s Tapeta Footings synthetic surface by running 4 1/2 furlongs in :51.32.
Sought After’s dam, Smolensk, is a half sister to Grade 2 winner Better Than Honour, the 2007 Broodmare of the Year. Better Than Honour is the dam of ‘07 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner and champion three-year-old filly Rags to Riches, ’06 Belmont winner Jazil, and Grade 2 winner Casino Drive.
Multiple Grade 1 winner Blush with Pride is Sought After’s second dam. Other notable members of the female family include 2007 European champion three-year-old filly Peeping Fawn, Irish champion two-year-old and sire Malinowski, and Group 1 winner Thewayyouare.
