Nicole’s Pick is first winner for Ex Federali
Nicole’s Pick staked the pace and drew clear to a 3 1/4-length score in the 12th race at Ruidoso Downs on Monday to become the first career winner for New Mexico-based sire Ex Federali.
Trained by Clifford C. Lambert Sr. for owners 4 Eagles Racing Stable and Eduardo Salgado, Nicole’s Pick completed 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:37.80 on a track rated as fast to prevail in his eighth start. He is out of the winning Native Prospector mare Twenty Two Jewels.
An 11-year-old by In Excess (Ire) out of the Crystal Water mare Crystal Cop, Ex Federali stood the 2008 season for a private fee at J Bar D Stables in Anthony, New Mexico. A full brother to multiple stakes winner and sire Ex Marks the Cop, Ex Federali has four two-year-olds in his first crop.
Ex Federali won eight of 36 career starts, including a win in the 2001 Maiden Stakes at Hollywood Park, and earned $292,755 in five seasons.
