Claiborne Farm lowers stud fees for five stallions

Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky, has lowered the stud fees for five stallions for the 2009 breeding season.

Strong Hope, First Samurai, Eddington, Out of Place, and Political Force will stand for lower fees than they stood the previous season.

“This is certainly not a reflection on these young stallions,” said Claiborne’s Bernie Sams. “I have great confidence in them. They have been very well received and have positive sales results. The fees were lowered in an effort to give breeders added value in the face of uncertain market conditions.”

Strong Hope will stand for $15,000 after standing in 2008 for $30,000. First Samurai’s stud fee is $30,000, a $10,000 decrease from the previous season.

Eddington’s stud fee is $15,000, a $5,000 reduction. Stud fees for Political Force and Out of Place were reduced $2,500. Political Force will stand for $12,500 and Out of Placewill stand for $5,000 in 2009.

Five other stallions—Arch ($25,000), During ($5,000), Flatter ($5,000), Pulpit ($80,000), and War Front ($12,500)—will stand for the same fee they did in 2008.

Stud fees for Horse Chestnut (SAf) and Seeking the Gold will be announced at a later date. In 2008, Seeking the Gold stood for $125,000 and Horse Chestnut stood for $5,000.

Horse Greeley will stand his first season at stud in 2009 for $7,500.
