Opposition Leader first winner for El Leopardo

Opposition Leader unleashed a determined bid near the inside rail, rallied past three foes in the stretch, and earned a three-quarter-length win in the tenth race on Thursday at Louisiana Downs to become the first career winner for freshman sire El Leopardo.

El Leopardo stood the 2008 breeding season for a private fee at Landlock Equine Center in Coushatta, Louisiana. The unraced Storm Cat horse is a half brother to stakes winner Manchurian and is out of 1997 champion three-year-old filly Ajina.

Seven-year-old El Leopardo is the sire of 54 foals, including 23 two-year-olds in his first crop. The dark bay or brown horse is from the female family of European highweight and sire Bahri, Irish champion two-year-old filly Highest Trump, Group 3 winners and sires Dance Bid and Northern Plain, and Grade 2 winner Nothing But Fun.
