Fastness relocating to Timber Ridge

Multiple Grade 1 winner Fastness (Ire) is being relocated for the 2009 breeding season to Timber Ridge Farm in Felton, Pennsylvania.

The Rousillon horse out of stakes winner City Fortress, by Troy, will stand for $3,500. A $2,000 stud fee will be charged for Pennsylvania-foaling mares.

A half brother to multiple Group 2-placed stakes winner Desert Boy, a champion sprinter, miler, and stayer in Hong Kong, 18-year-old Fastness is the sire of 181 foals in nine crops of racing age, including multiple graded stakes winner Le Cinquieme Essai, Canada’s 2002 champion three-year-old male.

Fastness’s 132 starters have earned 79 wins and compiled purse earnings of $4,582,501 through Thursday.

A two-time winner of the Eddie Read Handicap (G1) at Del Mar, Fastness concluded his five-year racing career in 1996 with $1,581,165 in purse earnings and nine wins in 24 starts.
