Golden Eagle purchases Stormin Fever

Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-producing sire Stormin Fever has been purchased by the Mabee family’s Golden Eagle Farm from Edward P. Evans and Brereton Jones and will stand the 2009 season in Ramona, California for $7,500.

The 14-year-old Storm Cat horse previously stood at Jones’s Airdrie Stud in Midway, Kentucky.

“Ever since Golden Eagle started their downsizing in 2007, our motto has been quality over quantity,” Golden Eagle General Manager Janine McCullough said.

“Stormin Fever is the strongest Storm Cat stallion to ever be moved to California, with several big crops behind him, and he will be a leading sire in California along side his barn mate, Grade 1 superstar Salt Lake.”

Stormin Fever has sired the earners of more than $3-million each of the past four seasons, including the earners of more than $3.2-million this year. Overall, he has 429 foals from six crops of racing age, including Grade 1 winners Sweet Talker and Tarlow, that have earned $17,159,962.

Also, according to the farm, Salt Lake will stand the 2009 season for $7,500.
