Just Hummm first winner for Bowman’s Band

Just Hummm gained command approaching the stretch and earned a 4 3/4-length win in a maiden special weight race on Thursday at Pimlico Race Course to become the first winner for freshman sire Bowman’s Band.

Trained by Valora Testerman for Jason Quinzer, Just Hummm completed 4 1/2 furlongs in :52.54 on a fast track.

Grade 2 winner Bowman’s Band stands for $6,000 at Lane’s End in Versailles, Kentucky. The Dixieland Band horse out of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Hometown Queen, by Pleasant Colony, has 55 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Bowman’s Band compiled seven wins and $1,315,774 in purse earnings during a four-year racing career that concluded in 2004. The chestnut horse earned four stakes victories, including a win in the 2003 Meadowlands Breeders’ Cup Stakes (G2) for trainer Allen Jerkens and owner Martin Schwartz.
