Presidential Order, a 15-year-old Danzig horse that stood at M.C. Roberts Farms in Mooresville, Indiana, was euthanized on April 23 after running into a fence and severely lacerating his neck, according to a farm press release.
Although Presidential Order was in a new paddock, he managed to break the top board on the fence and impale his neck on one of the splintered ends, according to a report by Jerre K. Rorick, D.V.M.
Presidential Order was out of the Grade 1-winning Hold Your Peace mare Mitterand and was a half brother to Grade 2 winner and sire French Deputy.
Presidential Order was bred in Kentucky by Irving Cowan. He finished fifth in his only start, a maiden race at Hollywood Park on May 4, 1996.
From eight crops and 100 foals of racing age, Presidential Cause has 50 winners and five stakes winners, with progeny earnings of $2,225,973. His advertised stud fee for 2008 was $3,000.
