Fox Hill Farms purchases Solar Flare

by Michael Burns

Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farms purchased promising Argentine colt Solar Flare from owner Stud Matty.

The deal was brokered by bloodstock agent John Fulton.

A four-year-old Salt Lake colt out of Stellaire, by Southern Halo, Solar Flare will be trained by Larry Jones.

Solar Flare has three wins and three runner-up finishes from seven starts in Argentina. He captured the 2,000-meter (9.94-furlong) Premio Lord Best by nine lengths at Palermo on January 13 in his most recent start.

Fox Hill Farms raced Hard Spun, runner-up last year in both the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic Powered by Dodge (G1).
