Doctor Mike sires first winner


Doc of the Bay rallied in early stretch and surged to a 4 ¾-length win in the third race at Evangeline Downs on Saturday, becoming the first winner for multiple stakes winner and freshman sire Doctor Mike.

Doc of the Bay, who is out of the multiple stakes-winning Nile Delta mare B. J.’s Delta Pro, won the five-furlong maiden special weight race in :59.53 on a track rated as fast. He is owned by Valene Farms and trained by Troy Young

Doctor Mike, an 11-year-old by Autocracy out of the Bayou Hebert mare Run Prissy Run, stands for $1,000 at Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, Louisiana. A full brother to stakes winner Auto Be a Runner and a half brother to stakes winner Rapide, Doctor Mike has six two-year-olds in his first crop.

Bred by Valene Farms, Doctor Mike recorded 11 wins in 59 career starts, including seven stakes victories. He amassed $503,799 in lifetime earnings.
