The Leopard retired, standing in Argentina
The Leopard, a multiple stakes winner after topping the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Calder selected two-year-olds in training sale, will begin his stud career at Haras La Quebrada in Argentina.
The three-year-old Storm Cat colt out of Moon Safari, by Mr. Prospector, did not race again following his victory in the Generous Stakes (G3) on November 23 on the turf at Hollywood Park. He also won the Pilgrim Stakes on the grass at Belmont Park and scored a maiden win on dirt at Saratoga Race Course for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Demi O’Byrne bought The Leopard on behalf of Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith for $2.5-million at the Calder sale from the consignment of Kight, Adams, Mattox, and Raymon.
The Coolmore partners reacquired The Leopard about five months after pinhookers Hoby and Layna Kight purchased him for $1-million in the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale.
Eagle Holdings, one of Coolmore’s breeding entities, bred The Leopard in Kentucky.
