Action This Day’s first winners race internationally

Vivian Champions won a five-furlong maiden race on June 8 at Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico and Rapid Release won a seven-furlong maiden race at Brighton Racecourse on Sunday in England to become the first winners for champion Action This Day.

A seven-year-old by Kris S. out of multiple Grade 2-placed winner Najecam, by Trempolino, Action This Day stands for $10,000 at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington. Action This Day has 89 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Action This Day won two of nine career starts and earned $822,484 in three racing seasons for owner B. Wayne Hughes and trainer Richard Mandella.

As a two-year-old he finished second in his career debut and followed with a victory in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race at Santa Anita Park. Action This Day clinched the 2003 Eclipse Award for champion two-year-old male with a 2 1/4-length score in the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Santa Anita. Action This Day finished sixth in the 2004 Kentucky Derby (G1).
