Grade 1 winner Fourty Niners Son has been retired and will stand his initial season at stud at Hidaka Stallion Station on the island of Hokkaido, Japan.

A seven-year-old by Distorted Humor, Fourty Niners Son won six of 19 career starts, including the 2005 Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Stakes (G1) for owner-breeder Tom Baxter, of Grand Island, Nebraska.

Fourty Niners Son capped his career with a one-length win in the San Luis Rey Handicap (G2) on March 24, 2007, in his final start. He earned $673,825 in four seasons.

A half brother to Grade 1 winner Cindy’s Hero, Fourty Niners Son is out of the Alleged mare Cindazanno.

Shawn Collins of Mare Solutions and Nobu Araki’s Polo Green Stable helped arrange the sale.
