Indygo Shiner to stand at Hill ‘n’ Dale

Grade 3 winner Indygo Shiner, by A.P. Indy, will stand the 2009 breeding season for $7,500 at John G. Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington.

Out of Grade 3 winner Navarra, a half sister to 2002 Broodmare of the Year Toussaud, ten-year-old Indygo Shiner previously stood in Argentina and is the sire of three Argentine classic winners.

“His success in Argentina has been unparalleled as he is currently the leading sire with just two crops to race,” Sikura said. “In addition, he produced both the [Argentine] Oaks and Derby winners on the same day last month. Indygo Shiner offers breeders a great opportunity to breed to a leading sire that has the potential to become an important sire in North America.”

Indygo Shiner’s top offspring include Gran Premio Nacional (Arg-G1) (Argentine Derby) winner Tecla Shiner and Gran Premio Seleccion (Arg-G1) (Argentine Oaks) winner Miss Match, who each won their respective races on November 15 at Palermo.

He also sired Gran Premio Polla de Portrillos (Arg-G1) (Argentine Two Thousand Guineas) winner Mi Amiguito.

Indygo Shiner has sired 40 winners from 81 starters that have earned $1,693,293 in his first two crops.
