Juddmonte Farms revises stud fees for 2009
Juddmonte Farms has revised their stud fees for the 2009 breeding season in response to recent adjustments made by multiple farms in light of the current global financial crisis.
Three-time Grade 1 winner Empire Maker, winner of the 2003 Belmont Stakes (G1), will stand for $75,000 in 2009. An eight-year-old by Unbridled out of 2002 Broodmare of the Year Toussaud, Empire Maker is the sire of multiple Grade 1 winner Country Star.
Juddmonte previously released a stud fee of $100,000 for Empire Maker for the upcoming breeding season. The Lexington farm also revised the stud fees for Grade 1 winner First Defence, who will stand his first season for $17,500 rather than $20,000, and Mizzen Mast, whose fee was adjusted from $25,000 to $17,500 for 2009.
The previously announced stud fee of $10,000 for Aptitude was not changed.
Stud fees for several of the top stallions in the country—A.P. Indy, Distorted Humor, Smart Strike, and Unbridled’s Song—have been lowered for 2009 after their respective farms issued revised fees to reflect the current economic condition.
