Storm Shocker first winner for Tropical Storm

Storm Shocker led at every point of call and scored a three-quarter-length victory in the first race on Sunday at Presque Isle Downs to become the first winner for Kentucky-based freshman sire Tropical Storm.

Trained by owner Paula Bacon and ridden by Ronald Allen Jr., Storm Shocker covered 5 ½ furlongs in 1:06.82 in a maiden special weight race on the synthetic Tapeta Footings surface. Bred in Pennsylvania by Michael DeSaye, the bay colt is out of the winning Tactical Advantage mare Shocktics.

Tropical Storm is an eight-year-old by Storm Cat out of the Grade 1-winning Carson City mare Pearl City, a half sister to Grade 1 winner and prominent sire Hennessy and multiple graded stakes winner and sire Shy Tom. Tropical Storm stood the 2008 season for $5,000 at Walmac Farm in Lexington. He has 17 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Campaigned by breeder Overbrook Farm and trainer by D. Wayne Lukas, Tropical Storm won one of four career starts.
