Shamus On Me first winner for Seattle Shamus
Shamus On Me controlled the pace, opened a 2½-length lead in early stretch under Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo, and cruised to a clear win in the third race on Saturday at Emerald Downs to become the first winner for freshman sire Seattle Shamus.
Shamus On Me, who is one of five winners from seven starters out of the winning Sovereign Dancer mare Cascade Dancer, completed six furlongs in 1:11 on a track rated as fast for trainer David A. Bennett. She is a half sister to stakes winner Paxton Ridge.
Seattle Shamus stood at Oakhurst Thoroughbreds in Newberg, Oregon, before dying because of complications from colic in September 2007. By Seattle Slew out of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Footing, by Forty Niner, Seattle Shamus has 32 two-year-olds in his first crop.
Owned and bred by Albert Finney and Karen and Mickey Taylor, Seattle Shamus won three of ten starts and amassed $126,880 in lifetime earnings.
