Noosa Beach first winner for freshman sire Harbor the Gold
Noosa Beach rallied three wide on the turn and earned a 4 1/2-length debut win in the fourth race on Thursday at Emerald Downs to become the first career winner for freshman sire Harbor the Gold.
Trained by Doris Harwood for owner Jeff Harwood, Noosa Beach won the 4 1/2-furlong maiden claiming race in :51.60 on a track rated as fast. Noosa Beach, who was bred by the Harwoods in Washington, is one of five winners from as many starters out of the unraced Basket Weave mare Julia Rose.
Harbor the Gold, a half brother to 1996 champion two-year-old male Boston Harbor, stood the 2008 season for $1,000 at Bar C Racing Stables in Hermiston, Oregon. A seven-year-old by Seeking the Gold out of stakes winner Harbor Springs, by Vice Regent, Harbor the Gold has 12 two-year-olds in his first crop.
Harbor the Gold concluded his racing career in 2004 with two wins in nine starts and $68,500 in earnings for Racing Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas and owner-breeder Overbrook Farm.
