Fanlew Farms begins stallion operation with Wynn in Command
by Ed DeRosa
Wynn in Command has been retired from racing and will begin his stallion career in 2009 at Kathleen and Raymond Paul’s Fanlew Farms.
The Pauls have mostly boarded broodmares and bred horses at their farm in Sarepta, Louisiana. Wynn in Command, who will stand for $2,000, is the farm’s first stallion.
A three-year-old by Northern Afleet, Wynn in Command is out of the unraced Mister Jolie mare Jolie Hawk, whose dam, Maggy Hawk, also produced champion, dual classic winner, and Central Kentucky-based stallion Afleet Alex as well as stakes winner and sire Unforgettable Max.
Tim Ritchey trained Wynn in Command for Carol McCarthy and co-breeder Wynn Jolley. He lost his career debut to eventual champion War Pass and won his next race by 8 3/4 lengths in his final start.
Wynn in Command’s female family also includes Grade 1 winner Qualique.
