Roarin Tigress is first winner for Roar of the Tiger

Roarin Tigress surged to a 2 3/4-length victory on April 16 at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico to become the first career winner for freshman sire Roar of the Tiger, a full brother to 2000 European Horse of the Year and leading sire Giant’s Causeway.

Trained by Gaston Capote for owner Fantastic Stable, Roarin Tigress covered two furlongs in :22.86. Bred in Florida by R. C. Van Voorhees and Elizabeth Steinbach, Roarin Tigress is out of the Carson City mare Evil Eyed Czarina, dam of stakes-placed winner Shaealltheway.

A nine-year-old by Storm Cat out of multiple Grade 2 winner Mariah’s Storm, by Rahy, Roar of the Tiger stands for $6,000 at Hartley/De Renzo, Walmac South in Ocala. He has 74 two-year-olds in his first crop. Roar of the Tiger also is a full brother to Group 2 winner You’resothrilling, Group 2-placed winner and sire Freud, and Group 2-placed winner Tumblebrutus.

Roar of the Tiger won four of 11 career starts and earned $97,184. He finished third in the 2004 Governor’s Handicap at Ellis Park.
