Classic winner Lawman to Ballylinch in Ireland

LAWMAN WINNING THE FRENCH DERBY

Lawman, winner of this year’s Prix du Jockey Club Mitsubishi Motors (Fr-G1) (French Derby) and Prix Jean Prat (Fr-G1), has been retired for stud duty in 2008 at Ballylinch Stud in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

No stud fee has been announced for the three-year-old Invincible Spirit colt out of Laramie, by Gulch.

Lawman scored by 1 1/2 lengths in the Prix du Jockey Club on June 3 and by three lengths in the Prix Jean Prat on July 8. He finished sixth in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay (Jacques le Marois) (Fr-G1) in his only subsequent start and came out of the race with an infection.

“He is now fully recovered but his trainer, Jean Marie Beguigne, feels that there is not enough time to have him back to peak form for autumn targets of the Irish Champion Stakes (Ire-G1) and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1),” Ballylinch said in a press release.

Lawman is a half brother to 2004 Prix de Diane Hermes (Fr-G1) (French Oaks) winner Latice (Ire) and to French Group 3 winner Satri. He won four of seven career starts and earned $1,550,210.
