Scipion to stand at Murmur Farm in Maryland

Posted: Monday, October 15, 2007 3:31 PM

Scipion, a Grade 3-winning half brother to freshman sire Vindication, will begin his stud career in 2008 at Allen and Audrey Murray’s Murmur Farm in Darlington, Maryland.

The five-year-old A.P. Indy horse out of Strawberry Reason, by Strawberry Road (Aus), will stand for $6,000. He is being syndicated.
Bred and raced by Virginia Kraft Payson, Scipion won the 2005 Risen Star Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds and finished third to Bellamy Road in the ’04 Miller Genuine Draft Cradle Stakes (G3) at River Downs.

“We are thrilled to have such a fine-looking individual who is so closely related to 2007 top freshman sire Vindication, who may be the next great sire,” the Murrays said in a statement.

Listed as sold to trainer Patrick Biancone for $1.9-million in the 2003 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale, Scipion won two of 17 career starts and earned $194,056.
