English Group 2 winner Eltish, runner-up in the 1994 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and ’96 Philip H. Iselin Handicap (G1), will be relocated to Keane Stud Operations in Amenia, New York, for the 2008 breeding season.
The Cox’s Ridge horse out of Nimble Feet, by Danzig, will stand for $3,500. Eltish stood for the same price during the previous breeding season at Saratoga Glen Farm in Schuylerville, New York.
Eltish is the sire of 125 winners, including ten stakes winners and three group or graded stakes winners, in seven crops of racing age. The bay horse’s 167 starters have compiled $7,175,627 in purse earnings through Sunday.
Eltish’s top progeny include Grade 3 winner Barbara O’Brien, Grade 3-placed stakes winners El Ruller and Shot Gun Favorite, multiple stakes winner Silk Ridge, and Kud’zu Magic, the 2001 champion imported two-year-old filly in Puerto Rico.
A half brother to Grade 3 winner Forest Gazelle, Eltish concluded his four-year racing career in 1997 with five wins in 25 starts and $704,186 in earnings. He posted consecutive wins in 1994 in the Lanson Champagne Vintage (Eng-G3) and Royal Lodge (Eng-G2) Stakes prior to finishing second to Timber Country in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile for owner-breeder Juddmonte Farms.
Following a runner-up finish in the 1995 Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Eng-G2), Eltish was transferred to trainer Bobby Frankel, and finished second to Smart Strike in the ’96 Philip H. Iselin Handicap (G1).
