War Pass to stand at Lane’s End upon retirement

Posted: Friday, November 16, 2007 1:22 PM

War Pass, the undefeated Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner, will stand at Lane’s End in Versailles, Kentucky, at the conclusion of his racing career.

Robert LaPenta races the Cherokee Run colt out of Vue, by Mr. Prospector.

“We are extremely pleased to have entered into an agreement with Robert LaPenta on War Pass and are looking forward to seeing this talented colt return to the track,” Lane’s End principal William S. Farish said. “I believe he will make a great addition to the Lane’s End stallion roster when he is retired.”

War Pass, the probable champion two-year-old male, has led at every call in all four of his starts. He scored by 4 3/4 lengths in becoming the Juvenile’s first undefeated winner since Johannesburg (2001) and Vindication (‘02).

Trained by Nick Zito, War Pass also prevailed in the Champagne Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park in his stakes debut.

LaPenta bought War Pass for $180,000 from the consignment of Claiborne Farm, agent, in the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale.

Bred in Kentucky by Seth Hancock’s Cherry Valley Farm, War Pass has earned $1,397,400. He is currently receiving a break before he takes aim at the 2008 Triple Crown prep season.
