Afleet Alex’s first foal born in Pennsylvania

Posted: Tuesday, January 23, 2007 8:05 PM

The first foal by champion and classic winner Afleet Alex was born Sunday evening at Bettina Jenney's Derry Meeting Farm in Cochranville, Pennsylvania.

The chestnut colt is out of the Tale of the Cat mare Baby Lets Cruise, a winning half sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and sire Jade Hunter.

“He looks like a very athletic, racy colt. I am delighted with him,” Jenney said.

Afleet Alex was voted champion three-year-old male of 2005 after winning the Preakness (G1) and Belmont (G1) Stakes and Arkansas Derby (G2). Overall, he won eight of 12 career starts while earning $2,765,800.

Afleet Alex, a five-year-old by Northern Afleet, stands at Gainesway in Lexington for $40,000.
