Millennium Farms to launch rewards program for breeders

Posted: Saturday, December 22, 2007 3:25 PM

Ro Parra’s Millennium Farms in Lexington will launch an incentive program on January 1 designed to reward mare owners who breed to the farm’s stallions.

“We have an outstanding group of reasonably priced young stallions, and we are establishing a program to reward loyalty for owners who breed their mares to them on a regular basis,” Parra said of the Millennium Rewards Program. “This is the first program of its kind in the Thoroughbred industry, and we look forward to partnering with breeders to establish their Millennium Rewards accounts.”

The Millennium Rewards Program awards points for breeding to the farm’s stallions, for the resulting foal’s sale at public auction, and for performance on the track. Points are converted to dollars at a rate of 10% and can be applied to the stud fee of any Millennium Farms stallion.

Breeders accrue points in the following ways:
· Opening a Frequent Breeder Account earns 10,000 points;
· One point is earned for every dollar spent on stud fees;
· One point is earned for every dollar a Millennium-bred brings its first time through the sales ring;
· One point accrues for every dollar a Millennium-bred earns on the racetrack;
· A black-type win garners 10,000 points;
· A Grade 3 win earns 25,000 points;
· A Grade 2 win earns 50,000 points; and
· A Grade 1 win is worth 75,000 points.

The program, which will officially launch New Year’s Day, is retroactive to January 2005 to allow for participation of Millennium stallions Even the Score’s and Scrimshaw’s first runners, who will be two-year-olds of 2008.

Millennium Farms is also home to stallions Shaniko, Will He Shine, Woke Up Dreamin, and Littleexpectations.
