Grade 2 winner Explicit relocating to Alberta

Posted: Tuesday, December 04, 2007 4:30 PM

Grade 2 winner Explicit is relocating to Winsome Acres in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, for the 2008 breeding season.

The Distant View horse out of Elegant Victress, by Sir Ivor, will stand for $3,000. Explicit stood for the same price the previous five seasons at Crestwood Farm in Lexington.

Explicit’s 20 winners from 38 starters in two crops of racing age compiled $467,675 in purse earnings through Monday.

A half brother to Grade 3 winner Flying Victor and Grade 2-placed multiple stakes winner Vying Victor, Explicit concluded his three-year racing career in 2002 with six wins from 26 starts and $603,190 in purse earnings.

The chestnut horse posted back-to-back victories in the 2002 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) at Oaklawn Park and the Pelleteri Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Fair Grounds, and also won the ’02 True North Breeders’ Cup Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park.

Ian Jory trained Explicit for Marvin Malmuth, who is the co-breeder of the horse along with Sonja Malmuth.
