Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Round Pond will be bred to Storm Cat this season.

Owner Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm retired the five-year-old Awesome Again mare after she fractured her left knee in the Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) on April 7 at Oaklawn Park.

Equine surgeon Larry Bramlage, DVM, inserted a screw to stabilize the injury on Wednesday.

“She will be bred to [Storm Cat] at the appropriate time,” Porter said on the Fox Hill website, rockportharbor.com. “She is cleared by her vets even though she just had surgery."
