Brewtiful Girl is first winner for Milwaukee Brew
Brewtiful Girl became the first winner for multiple Grade 1 winner Milwaukee Brew with a 1 1/2-length victory in a $42,460 maiden special weight race on Sunday at Delaware Park.
Trained by Timothy Salzman for Sheratoga Stables, Brewtiful Girl covered 4 1/2 furlongs in :53.86 over a track rated fast. Brewtiful Girl is out of the winning Vice Regent mare Regal Consort.
Milwaukee Brew, a 10-year-old by Wild Again out of the Grade 3-winning Wolf Power (SAf) mare Ask Anita, stands at Adena Springs South in Williston, Florida, for $10,000. He has 83 foals in his first crop.
Milwaukee Brew won back-to-back editions of the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) in 2002 and ’03, a feat first accomplished by John Henry (1981-‘82) and duplicated by Lava Man (‘06-‘07).
Milwaukee Brew also won the Californian Stakes (G2) in 2002 and finished third that season in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). As a three-year-old in 2000, Milwaukee Brew won the Ohio Derby (G2) and Marine Stakes (Can-G3). He completed his four-year racing career with eight wins in 24 career starts and earnings of $2,879,612.
