Grade 2 winner Half Ours will enter stud in 2008 at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
The four-year-old colt will stand alongside his sire, Unbridled’s Song. A fee has not been announced.
Out of the Storm Cat mare Zing, Half Ours won the first five races of his career, including the 2005 Three Chimneys Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs and ’07 Richter Scale Sprint Championship Handicap (G2) at Gulfstream Park.
Owners Aaron and Marie Jones retired Half Ours this summer because of a fractured hind leg.
Aaron Jones bought Half Ours outright last fall for $6.1-million, the highest price in the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Jones and Barry Schwartz offered Half Ours as a racing prospect in dissolving their partnership. Schwartz was the immediate underbidder.
Half Ours won a pair of allowance/optional claiming races during the winter before earning a half-length victory in the seven-furlong Richter Scale. He subsequently finished second to Wanderin Boy in the Alysheba Stakes (G3) on May 4 at Churchill Downs.
“Half Ours was a really special horse; he just did everything so effortlessly,” trainer Todd Pletcher said. “He has all that you look for in a successful stallion—speed, precocity, class, great looks, commercial appeal, and pedigree.”
Bred by Brilliant Stables, Half Ours won five of seven career starts and earned $319,680.
