Teofilo to Darley’s Kildangan in 2008

Teofilo, the undefeated European champion two-year-old colt of 2006, will begin his stallion career in ‘08 at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in County Kildare, Ireland.

The Galileo (Ire) colt out of stakes winner Speirbhean, by Danehill, was retired last week. He developed a tendon injury a few days before his scheduled three-year-old debut in the Stan James Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) on May 5 at Newmarket.

A stud fee has not been announced. Teofilo will remain the property of breeder and trainer Jim Bolger and his wife, Jackie.

“I would expect that Teofilo’s stud career will prove to be as illustrious as his racing career, and [I am] hopeful that one day he will become a champion sire,” Jim Bolger said.

Bred in Ireland, Teofilo won all five of his starts, including the Laing O’Rourke National (Ire-G1), Darley Dewhurst (Eng-G1), and Galileo E.B.F. Futurity (Ire-G2) Stakes. He earned $645,596.
