Freshman sire Geri returns to Hill 'n' Dale from Japan

Posted: Friday, November 16, 2001

Freshman sire Geri, who stood the 2001 breeding season at the Breeders Stallion Station on the isle of Hokkaido, Japan, will stand the upcoming season at Hill 'n' Dale Farm near Lexington for $5,000.

Geri has sired two winners from seven starters this year in his initial crop of 50 foals, including Bedanken, who won the Sequoyah Stakes at Remington Park earlier this year. Geri has lifetime progeny earnings of $51,950 through Friday.

A nine-year-old son of Theatrical (Ire), Geri won nine of 19 career starts, including the Oaklawn Handicap (G1) on dirt and Citation Handicap (G2) on turf. He retired after his five-year-old campaign for owner-breeder Allen Paulson with earnings of $1,707,980.

Bred in Kentucky and out of the Mr. Prospector mare Garimpeiro, who is a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Dalhart and stakes winner Rose Frances, Geri is a full brother to stakes winner Clure.
