Grade 2 winner Blueprint retired, to stand in Ireland

Fog City Stable's multiple Grade 2 winner Blueprint (Ire), who suffered a career-ending injury days prior to the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships on October 27, will stand as a steeplechase stallion in Ireland.

Blueprint, who won the 2000 Jockey Club Stakes (Eng-G2) at Newmarket while campaigning for previous owner Queen Elizabeth II, left trainer Bob Hess's barn on Tuesday morning to embark on his new career.

A six year-old son of 1991 Irish Horse of the Year Generous out of Group 2-placed Highbrow, by Shirley Heights, Blueprint earned $563,947 and won nine of 24 career starts, including this year's San Luis Rey (G2) and Sunset (G2) Handicaps. His last start was his half-length victory over Kudos in the Sunset at Hollywood Park on July 15.

Blueprint's second dam is the multiple Group 1-winning filly Highclere (GB), dam of champion Height of Fashion (Fr) and the granddam of sires Nashwan and Unfuwain.
