Middlesex Drive to Florida's DunHill Stud

Posted: Monday, November 12, 2001

Steven Duncker's Middlesex Drive, who won three Grade 2 races on the turf in 1999, will enter stud in 2002 at DunHill Stud near Reddick, Florida. The six-year-old son of Pine Bluff out of York Woods, by Mining, will stand his first season for $2,500 as the property of Duncker. Trained by Phil Hauswald, Middlesex Drive won seven of 28 career starts with seven seconds and four thirds and earned $746,819. He won the 1999 Kelso Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park, Dixie Stakes (G2) at Pimlico Race Course, and Bernard Baruch Handicap (G2) at Saratoga Race Course.

Middlesex Drive also placed in five other stakes events during his career, including a third-place finish behind Yagli and Federal Trial in the 1999 Manhattan Handicap (G1) at Belmont Park. He finished the 1999 season with a tenth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Gulfstream Park, beaten five lengths by Silic (Fr).

Middlesex Drive has not raced in 2001.
