Champion Housebuster welcomed back to U.S.

Posted: Monday, December 10, 2001

Greeted by a crowd of nearly 100 that included former owner Robert Levy, two-time champion sprinter Housebuster made his first public appearance in the United States since returning from Japan earlier this fall.

The 14-year-old son of Mt. Livermore, who will stand next season for $7,500 at George Grayson's Blue Ridge Farm near Upperville, Virginia, returned to the U.S. after standing the past three seasons at the East Stud on the island of Hokkaido. He stood his first seven seasons at Jonabell Farm near Lexington.

"It has been a while since I have seen my boy," Levy said. "He came right up to me. and boy he looks good."

The sire of multiple 2001 graded stakes winner Buster's Daydream, Housebuster has sired 25 stakes winners and has lifetime progeny earnings of $20,318,486 through Sunday. He is also the sire of stakes winners Midnight Bet, Morluc, Reserve Your Heart, Camella, Sweet Baby James, Chelsie's House, and Houseafire.

Housebuster was named champion sprinter in 1990 and '91 and won 15 of 22 career starts for $1,229,696 in earnings. He won 14 stakes events during his career, including the 1991 Carter Handicap (G1) and Vosburgh Stakes (G1) and the '90 Jerome Handicap (G1).

"My son wanted to buy him and bring him back sooner, but I didn't think we stood a chance of getting him," Levy said. "He is a great addition to the Mid-Atlantic region."
