Graded stakes-placed Kerosene was euthanized recently at Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, where he had stood his entire career, because of paralysis. The son of Devil's Bag was 15.The stallion had become ill and eventually developed encephalitis that caused paralysis. He lost his ability to stand which led to the decision to euthanize him on November 23. Kerosene won two of his four career starts and was second in the 1989 Everglades Stakes (G3) at Hialeah Park and earned $41,600. From eight crops of racing age, he sired 30 winners, including five stakes winners. He also was represented by Palas Atenea, the Dominican Republic's champion imported three-year-old filly of 1999.

Kerosene's other leading runners include Power Flame, who won 11 of 31 career starts, including the 1997 Dixieland Stakes at Oaklawn Park and the 2000 J. R. Straus Memorial Stakes at Retama Park. He earned $228,327.

Kerosene's other stakes winners are: Vorticity, Cedona Red, Mr. Vicious, and Up Dip. His progeny have earned $$1,297,132.
