City On a Hill to stand at Ballyhane Stud

Posted: Monday, December 03, 2001

Group 3 winner City On a Hill has been retired and will stand the 2002 season at Ballyhane Stud in County Carlow, Ireland.

The four-year-old son of Rahy out of Ville d'Amore, by Irish River, will stand his first season for approximately $3,583. City On a Hill is also expected to shuttle to the Southern Hemisphere and stand at Curraghmore Stud in New Zealand.

City On a Hill won three of four races in 1999 as a two-year-old, including the July Stakes at Newmarket (Eng-G3), before suffering a splint injury when seventh in the Prix Morny (Fr-G1) at Deauville.

Unraced as a three-year-old in 2000, City On a Hill made an unsuccessful return when tenth in a $54,460 race at Nad al Sheba racecourse in the United Arab Emirates on March 1.

Bred in Kentucky at Gainsborough Farm, the former Godolphin Racing runner is a half-brother to Prix Marcel Boussac (Fr-G1) winner Loving Claim.
