Uncle Abbie to stand in Texas

Four-year-old Kentucky-bred Uncle Abbie, a son of Kingmambo, will stand the 2002 breeding season at Joe and Sharon Kerby's Key Ranch in Salado, Texas.

Uncle Abbie won three of 18 career starts in three seasons and earned $137,795 campaigning in the name of late owner-breeder William S. Kilroy. Trained by Neil Howard, he made final career appearance on June 2 at Churchill Downs, where he finished unplaced in a 1 1/16-mile allowance race.

Uncle Abbie is out the Seattle Slew mare Lassie Connection, a half sister to European highweight Wolfhound; multiple Grade 3 winner Weekend Surprise, the dam of champion A.P. Indy and classic winner Summer Squall; stakes winner Spectacular Lady and Foxhound, and Charming Lassie, dam of champion Lemon Drop Kid. He is a half brother to stakes winner Winning Connection, classic-placed Unbridled Lassie, and Grade 3-placed Thrilla in Manila and Houston Connection.

Uncle Abbie is owned by a syndicate and managed by Bloodstock Management Corp. of Oklahoma City. He will stand the 2002 season for $2,000.
