Desert King, Entrepreneur leased to Japan for 2002

Freshman sires and European classic winners Desert King and Entrepreneur, who have stood at Coolmore in Ireland, will be leased to Japan for the 2002 breeding season. Coolmore has regularly sent some of its stallions to Japan under similar lease agreements, including Thunder Gulch, sire of dual American classic winner Point Given.

Desert King, winner of the 1997 Irish Derby (Ire-G1) and Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1), has sired ten winners from 47 starters, including stakes winners Red Briar (Ire) and Sundrenched. The seven-year-old son of Danehill out of Sabaah, by Nureyev, was highweighted on the 1997 European Free Handicap from 9 ½ to 10 ½ furlongs.

Entrepreneur was highweighted on the 1997 European Free Handicap from seven to nine furlongs when he won the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1). The seven-year-old son of Sadler's Wells out of Exclusive Order, by Exclusive Native, has sired four winners from 32 starts in his first crop.
