Group 3 winner Tamayaz sires first winner

Maryland-based freshman sire Tamayaz was represented by his first winner from a group of 15 starters on Saturday when Tower of Silence won a maiden claiming race in his second career start.

Owned and trained by Grover "Buddy" Delp, the two-year-old colt out of Rolling Mill, by Hagley, won the six-furlong race by 1 ½ lengths in 1:13.98.

Tamayaz, a nine-year-old son of Gone West out of Minstrelsy, by The Minstrel, stands for $5,000 at the Northview Stallion Station near Chesapeake, Maryland. Tamayaz has 42 foals in his first crop.

A half brother to stakes winner Star Standing, Tamayaz won six of 17 career starts for $533,665 in earnings. He won the 1996 Rose of Lancaster Stakes (Eng-G3) at Haydock Park and two rounds of the Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al Maktoum Challenge races at Nad al Sheba racecourse that same season.
