Graustark stallion Devoted Ruler dies at 28

Devoted Ruler, a son of Graustark died on Monday from infirmities of old age at Rocking G Horse and Cattle Co. near Grain Valley, Missouri, where he stood until being pensioned this past breeding season. He was 28.Devoted Ruler won two of five career starts and earned $12,600. From 61 foals from 18 crops of racing age, he sired 30 winners including Devoted Alliance, winner of the 1984 Friar Rock Stakes at Woodbine; stakes-placed Poindexter; and Star Brilliant, who won 19 of 103 career starts and earned $285,835.

Devoted Ruler was produced by the stakes-winning Armageddon mare Lovely Gypsy, a half sister to 1969 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Majestic Prince.
