Stakes winner Just a Cat to stand in Canada

Freshman sire Just a Cat has been sold privately and will relocate from Central Kentucky to stand the 2002 season at Cal Mar Farm in Alberta, Canada. The seven-year-old son of Storm Cat out of Rita, by Alydar, will stand his first season in Canada for $1,600 ($2,500 Canadian). Just a Cat, who covered 51 mares in 2001, had stood at Hill 'n' Dale Farm near Lexington, including the 2001 season for $3,500.

With 39 foals in his first crop, Just a Cat has sired seven winners from his first 17 starters and has progeny earnings of $141,817 through Sunday.

Just a Cat won two of eight career starts with two seconds and one third and earned $144,139 during his lone season on the racetrack in 1996. He won the Cowdin Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct and finished second in the Cradle Stakes at River Downs and third in the Saratoga Special Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course.
