Freud to stand at Lakland North
Group 2-placed winner Freud, a full brother to multiple Group 1 winner and Central Kentucky sire Giant's Causeway, has been retired and will enter stud in 2002 at Lakland North near Hudson, New York.
The three-year-old son of Storm Cat out of the multiple Grade 2-winning Rahy mare Mariah's Storm will stand his initial season for $5,000.
Bred in Kentucky and campaigned exclusively in Europe, Freud won one of 12 starts with two seconds and one third and earned $44,016. His lone victory came going a mile at the Curragh this season and that win earned him a trip to the Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1), where he finished seventh behind stablemates Black Minnaloushe, Mozart (Ire), and Minardi.
Freud, who also finished third in the Cork and Orrery Stakes (Eng-G2) at Royal Ascot, is one of three winners produced by Mariah's Storm.
