Epistolaire, Kouroun to stand in France in 2002

French Group 2 winner Epistolaire (Ire) and French Group 3 winner Kouroun will both enter stud in France in 2002.Kouroun, a three-year-old son of Kaldoun, will stand for approximately $1,612 at Haras de Camp Benard. Winner of the Prix Daphnis (Fr-G3) and Prix de Saint-Patrick at Chantillly, Kouroun is out of the Lead On Time mare Kuneitra. He won three of five career starts for $62,800 in earnings.

Epistolaire will stand for $1,370 for Thoroughbred mares and $896 for half-bred mares at Haras de La Haie Neuve.

The six-year-old son of Alzao out of the Law Society mare Epistolienne won four of 17 starts during his five-year career for earnings of $279,272. He won the Grand Prix de Deauville Lancel (Fr-G2) in 1998, defeating Sibling Rival and Strategic Choice.

Epistolaire raced on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, winning one of six North American starts and finishing third in the 2000 Pan American Handicap (G2) at Gulfstream Park. Epistolaire is half-brother to Group 2 winner Epitre and a full brother to two stakes-placed winners.
