Zenyatta drilled six furlongs in 1:11.20 on Friday morning at Hollywood Park as trainer John Shirreffs and owners Jerry and Ann Moss consider her Breeders’ Cup target.
Shirreffs said Thursday that Zenyatta will be pre-entered in both the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Ladies' Classic (G1). Pre-entries are due on Monday, and entries will be taken eight days later on November 3.
Friday’s workout was Zenyatta’s first since her victory in the Lady’s Secret Stakes (G1) on October 10.
“She went very well,” Shirreffs said. “It was a little faster than she normally works. She usually goes in [1:13].”
Under regular rider Mike Smith, Zenyatta worked in company with Sabina Fay, who covered four furlongs in :47.40, and Green Cat, who went five furlongs in 1:00.40.
Her stablemate and fellow Grade 1 winner Life Is Sweet finished fourth in the Lady’s Secret, and she also was on the Hollywood work tab Friday, covering six furlongs in 1:12.20.
