Danzon, a Group 3 winner last year in France as well as Group 3-placed in Germany, had already placed in Grade 1 and Grade 3 races at Churchill Downs when trainer Patrick Biancone sent her to Turfway Park to try the Polytrack in the Kentucky Cup Distaff Stakes (G3) on September 29.
It wasn't really much of a contest as the Royal Academy filly won as she pleased by five lengths.
"We were cruising along and I asked her to pick it up around the turn," jockey Julien Leparoux said. "She responded and won easily."
Trainer Patrick Biancone is considering his options which include the E. P. Taylor Stakes (Can-G1) on October 21 at Woodbine as well as the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).
"She's been training well and we thought she'd like the Polytrack," Biancone explained about the decision to run at Turfway Park. "She's a filly that likes soft going and with all the dry weather we haven't been able to run her on the turf. We have a lot of options for her. She's eligible for everything."
