IEAH Stables

As the president and director of International Equine Acquisitions Holdings Inc., Michael Iavarone has directed the Thoroughbred ownership group’s bloodstock affairs and strategic development.

IEAH Inc. owns IEAH Stables, which allows partners to buy shares of a horse or shares in the overall operation. Iavarone oversees Thoroughbred purchases for the group, which typically buys horses already in training.

IEAH Stables has enjoyed success with many top horses, including 2008 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) winner and champion three-year-old male Big Brown, whom IEAH co-owned with Paul Pompa Jr. While primarily based in New York, the stable has campaigned its horses at tracks throughout the country. Richard Dutrow Jr. trains the majority of IEAH Stables’ horses.

IEAH attempts to acquire horses that can win races on the track and provide residual value. Because partnerships are arranged with an eye toward post-racing careers, IEAH attempts to acquire desirable stallion or broodmare prospects.

Iavarone was a fan of racing for 20 years before IEAH Stables was founded in 2003.

One year later Iavarone embarked on a plan to build a state-of-the-art equine medical facility, and in 2009 IEAH Inc. opened the Ruffian Equine Medical Center near Belmont Park.

“I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in racing, this is certainly one of the biggest ups,” Iavarone said when the $18-million
facility was opened.

In a letter posted on the IEAH website, Iavarone said a team effort has helped IEAH succeed at the highest levels in racing.

Why would he want to be associated with Rick Dutrow when there are so many other trainers out there
